this past weekend was the annual -- but first ever "ryder-attended”-- blue angels party at oma and poppy's house. for those unfamiliar with the blue angels they are high flying navy pilots who come to seattle, do awesome tricks over lake washington, and play volleyball with their shirts off. check out some of the iceman and maverick-esque moves they put on:
besides being cool to watch, the angels are very very very loud. so instead of getting to see the show in person, mommy and daddy made me stay inside and wear these dorky headphones. they kept blabbering something about sensitive ears. in a sign of uncle-nephew unity, uncle john put some on too, which made me feel only slightly less goofy.

sadly, poppy couldn’t make the party this year, but in his absence oma and aunty bev did a fabulous job preparing lots of food, cousin evan taught me some soccer moves and uncle john bbq’d the perfect brats – or so I heard.
on sunday, i relaxed with daddy who made up for some lost weekday time by reading me lot of books and showing me the styley way to wear a cubs hat. while the baby gals may not dig the earphones, how can they resist me and my new baseball hat?

| thanks for the cool book uncle john |
